Introduction of Pacific Disaster Net to
students of the University of the South
Pacific
A Pacific Disaster Net (PDN) “hands-on" introduction was conducted on Saturday, 14
th
April 2012 for students
of the Disaster Risk Management course at the Japan-Pacific ICT Centre, Laucala Campus of the University of
the South Pacific (USP) in Suva, Fiji. The afternoon session enabled students to familiarise themselves with
PDN functionalities and content. The participants learned how to find information of their interest and staying
informed about disaster risk management issues with the PDN, throughout their studies and beyond. Lively
discussions showed great interest and many students asked to be added to the PDN mailing list to receive
further updates in the future.
